The Good Food Loop

When you spend your grocery dollars in our Good Food Loop, your dollar goes so much further than just filling your basket.

You help keep money in the local economy and support farmers who care deeply about the Earth andg all its inhabitants, from the microbes to the macro organisms.

The Power of your Dollar

As of 2022, according to the USDA Economic Research Service, on average, only $0.15 of every dollar spent in the grocery store got back to the farmer.

In sharp contrast to that figure, when you purchase food through Good Food Farmers, on average, $0.74 goes directly to the farmer; the balance covers general overhead and administrative costs. That’s real impact!

Put another way, when you spend $45 on food at the grocery store, the farmer only gets about $6.75, but when you spend $45 with Good Food Farmers, the farmer gets over $33.

Our Good Food Pledge

We call ourselves Good Food Farmers, but what exactly do we mean by good food?

To us, good food is food that is fresh and flavorful, restorative to the body and the environment, and grown on farms by respected, protected, and fairly compensated farmers.

It is our commitment to you that every box of farm foods that you bring into your home is full of ingredients that meet that definition. That every single item in your box is:

  • Fresh & Local - Our foods are grown, harvested, processed, and / or prepared in the region and distributed to maximize freshness, flavor, and nutritional value — maintaining the integrity of the food from our farms to your table.

  • Just - Our foods guarantee a living wage and healthy working environment to all people in our Good Food Farmers food systems value chain. We support other local businesses and seek to strengthen the local economies and communities in which we operate. And we are dedicated to expanding access to high quality food and believe that all people should have access to high quality food.

  • Sustainable - For the benefit of both people and planet, our food is produced using farming practices that increase biodiversity, regenerate the soil, and promote clean air, clean water, and healthy ecosystems. We seek to mirror nature as closely as possible. Animal welfare and environmental stewardship are paramount.
